Anita graduated from the North Carolina School of the Arts with a BM Degree and earned her Masters Degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music. While a graduate student, she played with the Cleveland Orchestra in Severance Hall and on tour at Carnegie Hall. Her teachers include Alan Dean, Ray Mase and Bernard Adelstein. He has also performed with the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra, and the Theatre Chamber Players of the Kennedy Center. John holds a B.M. from Oberlin College and a Performer's Certificate from the Eastman School of Music. He is the percussion instructor at the North Carolina School of the Arts. | | | | | | Mark Clodfelter is the Professor of Trumpet at the University of Kentucky. He is a versatile performer of international acclaim and a Grammy nominated recording artist. Mark can be heard as Principal Trumpet of the Asheville Symphony Orchestra, the Trade Winds (Tampa Fl.) and Co-Principal of Orchestra Kentucky. His commercial affiliations include split lead with the DiMartino/Osland Jazz Orchestra and the Kentucky Jazz Repertory Orchestra. Mark is member of Covalence, a duo, with Rebecca Wilt, his wife and renowned collaborative pianist. Additionally, he is Co-Conductor of the Blue Grass Area Jazz Ambassadors and the Central Kentucky Youth Jazz Orchestra. David has been the tuba and low brass instructor for Greensboro College and Davidson College. As a student at the Empire Brass Symposium at Tanglewood, David performed with the Empire Brass Quintet and Atlantic Brass Quintet. David studied at the North Carolina School of the Arts and the University of Miami. His teachers have included David Mills, Sam Pilafian and Connie Weldon. | | | | | | As a tuba performer, Mark Norman is a former member of the U.S. Navy Band in Washington, DC, Washington Brass, Quintet Brazil', McLean Orchestra, Georgetown Symphony, the Mt. Vernon Chamber Orchestra, and the international award winning Tubas in the Sun quartet. He has performed with the North Carolina, Charlotte, Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Richmond, and Fairfax Symphonies. As a soloist, he has appeared in over 200 concert and conference venues and won several regional and national competitions. He joined the faculty at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas as the Director Bands and Professor of Tuba and Euphonium in the fall of 2009. Mr. Norman holds a Bachelors Degree in Tuba Performance and a Masters Degree in Instrumental Conducting from UNC at Greensboro. He has performed with numerous orchestras across the southeast including the North Carolina Symphony, Charlotte Symphony, Greensboro Symphony, Augusta Symphony, Charleston Symphony, Carolina Chamber Symphony and the Long Bay Symphony in Myrtle Beach, SC. Matt has also performed in Italy, France, Holland, Germany, Austria, Belgium and Switzerland as tubist with the North Carolina School of the Arts International Music Program Orchestra. He is on the faculty of Wake Forest University and Shaw University as instructor of tuba and euphonium, and is the Artist-Faculty tuba instructor at the North Carolina School of the Arts. Matt studied with David Lewis, David Mills, James Jenkins and David Fedderly. He earned his BM and Arts Diploma from the North Carolina School of the Arts. Matt spends his summers teaching tuba and euphonium at the New England Music Camp in Sidney, Maine. | | | | | | Colin Tribby has worked as a percussionist, writer, and vocalist for several original rock groups and collaborated with members of Grammy Award-winning acts such as Train and Counting Crows. He has performed on a diverse variety of international stages ranging from Carnegie Hall to CBGB's, including performances under the batons of Leonard Bernstein, Walter Hendl and Karel Husa. He is a founding member of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts' alumni company, The Open Dream Ensemble, and he holds degrees from both the Eastman School of Music and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. In 2008, Colin received two grants from the Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County. The Regional Artist Project Grant, which will take him to Guinea, West Africa in December of this year to study with master drummer Mamady Keita, and the Arts in Education Grant, which will enable him to continue a West African Drumming residency at Brunson Elementary. The highest form of rebellion she could muster was to become a classical singer. A true choral nerd, she's always loved singing with other people.
